![]() IMPORTANT: Screenshot your boarding number! ![]() If you do not have a younger more technically inclined individual, go to the dining hall (if you are staying at a resort) and ask someone for help. There’s no magical solution, unfortunately however, what I would recommend is that if you have a younger individual in your party have them do it. I’ve heard of some of the less tech-savvy guests complaining about the process because it is a strictly mobile-dependent process. So I thought I would make a note about older guests and groups heading to Walt Disney World. Sometimes not everyone gets called, but it’s better to try and hope for the best! For the older crowds ![]() There is no guarantee either the primary queue or the backup queue will be called. This is a BACKUP queue and will only be called if all the previous boarding groups have been called. If you don’t succeed with the 7:00 am Virtual Queue, you do have one last chance at 1:00 PM. Though it’s important to also be aware that delays, malfunction, and ride shutdown could cause that time to be greater than it is. Note that the approximate time is from the current time, not when the park opens. Once you do, you should have your boarding pass number and the approximate time your boarding group will be called. Don’t go over every little bit, just click join! Believe it or not, those few seconds could be the difference between getting a pass or not. The next step in securing a boarding group is probably going to bug some people, but once the queue opens and you are able to click join…it takes you to another screen to select your party. I’m sure you’ll be fine! Don’t Read – Just Click Once your clock reads 6:59, click on the “ Join Virtual Queue” and then just start refreshing constantly! It might seem tedious, but it’s only a minute at most. The virtual queue opens at 7:00 am each morning however, I as well as others have found that they sometimes open a few seconds before and that is really what guarantees your spot. ![]() Then we wait a few minutes…and once that clock hits 6:59… it’s go time! Make sure you have no internet issues and your app is up to date. My advice? Set your alarm clock for 6:55 and have your phone ready to go. The virtual queue fills up in seconds! You do not have the time to grab a coffee, go to the bathroom, brush your teeth, etc. I like my sleep, so I actually have to set an alarm to wake up but it’s still a good idea for everyone looking to join the virtual queue to do it as well. I cannot speak to the flexibility and the availability of switching your park reservation last minute, but be sure you try if you want to grab a boarding group! Set Your Alarm Most guests make their park reservations early especially if they have a resort reservation and/or vacation package. It will not let you join the virtual queue otherwise. They do still offer the Park Hopper Option (after 2:00 pm) however, in order to join the ROTR Virtual Queue, you have to have a Disney’s Hollywood Studios Park Reservation for that day. So this step is crucial and might change in the future, but when you get to Walt Disney World now you HAVE to make a park reservation. Truth be told, I didn’t think we were even going to be able to grab a boarding group number considering all the things I’ve read about the difficulty of getting them, but shockingly all 3 days we went to Disney’s Hollywood Studios – we got them! I’m not a pro at getting them by any means, however, I wanted to share my tips and tricks for getting boarding groups every time so that others may have a better shot in the future. The reasoning is that for some people it’s a lot easier to get a reservation than others. But, oh man, ROTR is a fantastic ride and something everyone should get to experience at least once.Īs most people know, ROTR has a virtual queue system which has been kind of a “love it or hate it” type of system. It was a few months later that Rise of the Resistance (ROTR) opened up and sadly because of COVID it took us almost two years to get back and FINALLY ride it. In September 2019, my family and I went to Disney right when Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run opened up. However, the tips & tricks listed below are the exact same for the current rides that require virtual queueing! It is standby or Individual Lightning Lane. *Update! Rise of the Resistance no longer has a virtual queue.
